NFL Mock Draft Part 4

Just as a side note: once I finish the first round (I'll try to have that done today), I'll archive all the picks under the first part. That way you can reference the entire thing in one post so you can prove just how off I was. Anyway, continuing on.

16. San Fransisco

Earl Thomas, CB/FS, Texas

San Fran will have a little bit of room to play around with two picks in the first round, and since they don't really need a lot of help up front on defense and their offensive line should be bolstered with an OT taken with their earlier pick, they could stretch down for someone useful in their secondary. Taylor Mays could also be picked here, but his stock has dropped quite a bit over the past year and Thomas has climbed. Anything could happen here, the 49ers have options.

17. Tennessee Titans

Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, Florida State

There's no question what the Titans will be after with this pick, and it'll probably come down to who the Tennessee organization thinks is the best defensive end left in the draft. Dunlap and Griffen have lost a lot of steam lately, while Pierre-Paul is looking like one of the premium ends in the draft. The Titans could decide otherwise, but you can be certain that a DE will be grabbed to make up for their poor pass-rush performance last year.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers

Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

Pittsburgh's got a pretty strong team as it is and they have a few future-building options here. They could go after Taylor Mays, as they do need help at safety down the road, or they can prepare for Colon's free agency two years down the road when he'll be asking for a gigantic contract and have Bulaga sitting and waiting to take the spot. As far as offensive tackles go, Bulaga is one of the best in the draft and may go earlier if Oakland or San Fran decide on him.

19. Atlanta Falcons

Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers

The Falcons need a cornerback more than anything this draft, and although they'll be reaching, they really don't have a choice. Earl Thomas will be gone, but there will be a few options here, namely McCourty, Robinson, and Thompson. Thompson is a little small, but quick, but McCourty's stock is rising quickly, especially with his head-turning performance at the Senior Bowl. Definitely a valid pick at 19th overall.

20. Houston Texans

Taylor Mays, FS, Southern California

Houston needs a lot, including a running back, a defensive tackle, cornerbacks, and safeties. They'll probably go for Mays here and take the risk on a declining stock, as he is still a top 15 player that will be available at 20. They could also go for Dwyer here or Brian Price, but Mays might just be the best value.

21. Cincinnati Bengals

Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma

The Bengals need to generate an incredible amount of offensive potential this offseason to pair up with their defense, so look for them to go for a wide receiver or tight end. There aren't a lot of wide receivers worthy of high picks this draft, so a tight end seems like the reasonable decision. Gresham is the best guy for the job.

22. New England Patriots

Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State

Odrick has shone in the Senior Bowl, and this should improve his draft position significantly. Given the horrible state of the New England defense, Odrick would be a great pick to put in on the Patriots' front line. Sergio Kindle and Brian Price might also be options here.

23. Green Bay Packers

Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland

Protecting Rodgers will be priority number one for Green Bay, and Campbell, if he is still available, will be a great pickup. He may be gone at this point, but be certain they will go after an offensive tackle.

24. Philadelphia Eagles

Serio Kindle, OLB, Texas

The Eagles will likely go with a lineman here, giving them options of Sapp, Kindle, or maybe Spikes. I think Kindle would be the best pick of the bunch, but they may also go with one of the many remaining defensive ends who have fell this far.

25. Baltimore Ravens

Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU

Flacco's going to need someone to throw to, especially if Mason retires, so a wide receiver will be first priority here. I also like Golden Tate, but LaFell might be a little more enticing, especially with the height difference.

26. Arizona Cardinals

Ricky Sapp, OLB, Clemson

The big question for Arizona is what they're gonna do at quarterback now that Warner has retired. With no clearly-defined franchise quarterbacks available this far into the draft, look for them to go with a rushing lineman like Sapp.

27. Dallas Cowboys

Mike Iupati, OG, Idaho

Iupati makes perfect sense here and he's had a rising stock the past week. The Cowboys will just hope he's still available.

28. San Diego Chargers

Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech

The Chargers are going to have to build and replace either a retiring nose tackle or a retiring running back. I'm going with running back.

29. New York Jets

Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame

A young and explosive wide receiver to compliment the young QB, I like the look of the Jets next season.

30. Minnesota Vikings

Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State

There will be two options here for Minnesota, defensive tackle and cornerback. Robinson will fit in well for the injured Griffin, but if a premium nose tackle is available, look for that option as well.

31. New Orleans Saints

Brian Price, DT, UCLA

New Orleans has a pretty complete team, but could upgrade at outside linebacker or defensive tackle. Brian Price is a deal at 31st, so look for the Saints to scoop him up.

32. Indianapolis Colts

Jahvid Best, RB, California

The Colts don't really need anything, but a weak running game could be bolstered by the addition of Best or Matthews. Either that or look for them to go after a left tackle, maybe the likes of Griffen or Dunlap who should fall this far.
